PAJUSCO DOMINATES THE FIRST STAGE AND MORTGAGES THE FINAL VICTORY

Lanusei, May, 12th, 2017. Marco Pajusco, 34, Veronese of the KM sports company, tenth and absolute first at the prestigious Marathon des Sables 2016, cut the finish line of the first stage of Sardinia Trail 2017 with a 2h22m24s time, taking out a serious mortgage on the final victory of this edition.

Lanusei, May, 12th, 2017. Marco Pajusco, 34, Veronese of the KM sports company, tenth and absolute first at the prestigious Marathon des Sables 2016, cut the finish line of the first stage of Sardinia Trail 2017 with a 2h22m24s time, taking out a serious mortgage on the final victory of this edition. The Italian athlete has prevailed straight away over the other competitors, remaining in the lead for the whole first day of competition which has seen as protagonists the stunning scenery of Lanusei (Bosco Seleni, the site of today first stage), Gairo and Arzana Municipalities.With an important detachment of 39m13s, the Swiss Roberto Casavecchia ranked in second place, a good result for his first participation at Sardinia Trail, followed by Tuscan Alessandro Michelucci of Cai Pistoia, who now has three consecutive appearances at Sardinia Trail,
with a break from the first of 40m23s. Among women, the Swiss Patrizia Besomi is the first to win the 4th place in the absolute rankings with a 3h4m54s time. 5th place, instead, for the Italian Daniela Carpani who finished the stage in 3h8m15s, with a 3m21s break from Besomi.
The athletes started at nine o'clock A.M. from the splendid setting of the Seleni wood of Lanusei for the first stage of the sixth edition of the Sardinia Trail, accompanied by a warm day and a slight mist but with an optimal temperature for running. A challenging trial this on the Lanusei-Arzana-Gairo-Lanusei route (Km 27,65 / ascent +980 mt / descent -919 mt).

Everybody ready for the second and penultimate stage of tomorrow, the longest and even the toughest one: Arzana-Desulo-Arzana.

Marco Pajusco "Tomorrow I’m going to continue my title-challenge. If tomorrow's visibility will be better of that of today I could even stop for a few moments to admire, from the highest peak, Punta La Marmora, the coasts of Sardinia."

DESULO: Arzana's Common Bound, Su Toni de Girini, Arcu Guddetorgiu, Inter ‘e Gennai, Funtana Mennula Cara, Genna Orisa.

ARZANA: from Genna Orisa, Punta La Marmora, Punta Florisa, Arcu Sa Turzi, Rio ‘e Su Accu up to Nuraghe Ruinas.
