Cagliari, December, 22th 2017 - The most awaited entry for the 7th edition of the Sardinia Trail has arrived: Antonio Filippo Salaris, from Uri in the province of Sassari, is going to take part in the mountain running race - known worldwide as the Ultra Trail - which held on May, 18th, 19th and 20th in one of the most beautiful and enchanting corners of Sardinia, from Ogliastra to Gennergentu, to be covered in three stages for a total length of about 100 km and 4000 meters of ascent.

Antonio Filippo Salaris, the great athlete of the most demanding marathon-and-resistance races, is one of the strongest Italian desert runners; he lays claim of a 2h34'51” record over the distance of the marathon, obtained in London in 2010 at the age of 39. In 2011 he won the ninth edition of the on-the-sand-marathon of San Benedetto del Tronto, and in the same year also won the first edition of the 100 km du Senegal - stage race in the African country.

In 2012 with Marco Olmo's team he took part in the Marathon des Sables in Morocco, finishing in 7th place overall and contributing to the victory in the team classification together with Marco Olmo (14th) and Lorenzo Trincheri (5th). Also in 2012 it ranks 2nd at the first edition of the Sardinia Trail. In 2013 he still ranks 2nd in the Sardinia Trail.

In 2013 he obtained an important 4th place at the Marathon des Sables, in 2014, the athlete of Uri concluded the Marathon des Sables, made even more extreme by longer and harder stages than the previous editions, with a 6th place absolute, fighting until the end and thus reconfirming himself among the best European athletes. Finally, in 2015, Filippo Salaris conquered the peaks of the standings by winning the Sardinia Trail.
"The Moroccan Italian", so nicknamed now, faces the most extreme races by training two hours on the treadmill with stoves aimed at the face to adapt to the most torrid temperatures and eating with bottarga of mullet and hard bread.

Difficult and increasingly spectacular routes are expected for the participants of the Sardinia Trail 2018, as the famous slogan of the event says: a "paradise to run", between the Gennargentu and the magical beaches of Cardedu and Tertenia, crossing the internal territories of the municipalities of Lanusei, Arzana, Gairo, Cardedu, Tertenia and Desulo.

The event has been organized by Good Looking Entertainment in collaboration with the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, with the Department of Sport and Tourism.
