TRIUMPH OF THE POLISH COUPLE BARTOSZ GORCZYCA AND EWA MAJER AT THE 8TH SARDINIA TRAIL

Cardedu (NU), May 19th, 2019. The Polish Bartosz Gorczyca, with the final time of 06h12m52s, has won the eighth edition of the Sardinia Trail, which ended today on the beach of Museddu in the municipality of Cardedu.
The European runner, in love with Sardinia, also came first in the overall classification of the third stage –Tertenia-Gairo-Cardedu of 26.8 Km - with a time of 02h28m10s, ahead of the ex-aequo Fabien Huby (BEL) and Dario Tuveri (ITA) who concluded with a 14m08s delay from the winner. In the general rankings, in second and third position respectively Fabien Huby (BEL) at 35m38s and Lino Polti (CHE) at 01h01m43s from the absolute winner.
In short, even today, a very hard and selective a stage, with the athletes who have used their last energies to try to oust the destined Bartosz Gorczyca from the title of Sardinia Trail without success.
In women's category, for the first time, Ewa Majer (POL) won the title of Queen of the Sardinia Trail with the time of 07h34m08s, fifth overall, thus snatching the sceptre from Patrizia Besomi, winner of the two past editions: the Swiss athlete in fact finished this stage positioning herself in the general classification in third position. In the stage and general classification of women, in second place we find the Swiss Ylenia Polti at 34m54s from the overall time of the Majer.
The route of the third stage is striking from the beach of Foxi (Tertenia), to the breath-taking scenery of Monteferru, the highest mountain on the sea, Punta Cartuceddu and Coccorocci.
Companion of the runners in this stage was a wonderful day of good temperatures, after the first two days of adverse conditions that did not prevent them from reaching, albeit painstakingly, but with so much determination, commitment and determination, the long-awaited goal on the long and sandy Museddu beach (Cardedu), giving yourself a few dives at the finish line between its crystal clear waters: a nice way to exorcise these 3 tiring days of competition with spectacular passages from Urzulei to Arzana.
The event was organized by Good Looking Entertainment Sport in collaboration with the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, with the Departments of Sport and Tourism, the municipalities of Urzueli, Arzana, Cardedu, Desulo, Gairo, and Tertenia, along with the companies HOKA ONE, the Loi sausage factory in Villagrande and the Panificio Ferreli in Lanusei.

Ewa Majer (POL): “A beautiful victory at the Sardinia Trail. The first two days were very hard because of the bad weather, but today with the sun I finally appreciated even better the landscapes of Ogliastra, from the mountains to the sea”.
